He lived his existence proudly thru God, Family, and Country. Gene served within the Ohio Army National Guard, 2d 174th Battalion, for 32 years, at which point he retired at 60 years vintage. He became a man of few words. Gene is survived by using his spouse, Marlene, his “Gracie,” of fifty years. He additionally leaves his 4 kids, Rod (Christina), Russell of Blacklick, OH, Lisa (Shawn), Gormley of Malta, OH, Amy (Jeff), Davison of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Angie (Shannon) Wagner of Waterford, OH. Also surviving are his five sisters, Joyce (Ron) Bush, Barbra Nolen, Dixie (Joe) Byrd, Connie (Ray) Sweeny, and Cheryl (Eddy) Skaggs. Nothing made Gene more proud than his grandchildren, which he leaves, Taylor and Tori Gormley; Weston and Coen Wagner; Gabriella, Abigail, Zachary, and Andrew Davison; and a new grandbaby being born in May to his son, Rod (Christina) Russell.
Gene is preceded in loss of life via his dad and mom, Kenneth and Mary Russell; his brother, Duane Russell; and his granddaughter, Mary Tecla Russell. In addition to his near own family, he leaves behind 3 special sisters-in-regulation, Carolyn Love, Beverly Howard, and Barb VanNess; a brother-in-law, John Howard; many nieces and nephews who were close to and expensive to his heart; and all of his Brothers and Sisters in Christ at Liberty Church. Services may be held at 1 p.M. Saturday, April 20, at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill.
